In Yorkshire, the Leeds and Liverpool canal passes through the grand unspoilt Pennine scenery, and many waterway marvels such as the Bingley Five Rise locks.
The Rochdale canal is only recently restored and climbs up the Calder valley to a magnificent summit over the Pennines. Other highlights of the area are the fine castle at Skipton and the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds
